If you prefer a wood deck, but wish to avoid the splintering and cracking commonly found in pressure-treated wood, we offer a variety of high-quality wood options.
Click on the Deck Building Materials listed to the left for more information. If you prefer a material that is not listed please let us know, and we will be happy to check on its availability. Our talented workers have the flexibility to work with a variety of materials in an excellent manner.
Red Cedar
For those who prefer a wood deck , but want a more beautiful look than treated pine, we recommend Red Cedar. Red Cedar is a soft wood, with more resistance to the elements and to splintering than treated pine. A Red Cedar deck is environmentally safe, without the chemicals involved in the pine treatment process and very affordable.
Peruvian Redwood
& Exotic
Hardwood
Exotic hardwoods, such as Peruvian redwood, ipe, and mahogany are some of the best wood decking products available. While some amount of regular maintenance is recommended for hardwoods, it is far less than that of pressure-treated wood. Hardwoods are much more resistant to splintering, harsh weather, insects and fire than other types of wood. Their smooth textures and dark colors put the hardwoods in a class by themselves. Like cedar, hardwoods are also environmentally safe.
Covered
Beams
Another added option for a Azek vinyl deck is a vinyl covered beam. The combination of a covered beam and sleeved posts creates a uniform vinyl appearance, as seen above.
Sleeved
Support Posts
Vinyl sleeves for support posts are a common choice for customers who desire vinyl decks, but don’t want to see bare wood posts holding up the deck. Vinyl support post sleeves will complement the decking and railing, and will protect the post from the cosmetic flaws that will show up on treated wood posts over time.
Yellow
Pine
Treated yellow pine is another decking option for those who prefer a wood deck and have a limited budget. Please note that treated yellow pine has no guarantee against splintering, cracking, and warping. If you wish to avoid these flaws, we strongly recommend upgrading to another type of decking.
Vertical
Skirting
Vertical skirting seals off the underneath area of a deck, inhibiting weed growth and preventing animals from making a home underneath. It also performs the same function of both the covered beam and sleeved posts—protecting from cosmetic flaws and providing a uniform vinyl appearance.

Yellow Pine

Rail
All of our wood decking options have matching railing. Please refer to the decking information on this page to find out more about each type.
Lattice
Lattice performs much the same function as skirting, while at the same time letting sunlight in. Lattice is available in both vinyl and wood.
